INTO AWARENESS

Workshops, Trainings & Retreats

Into Awareness provides self-regulation tools and practices to cultivate balance.

WHAT IS THE AWARENESS METHOD?

Awareness is a practice of mindful attention. The Awareness Method is based on Howard Gardner’s Multiple Intelligence Theory, where he expands the concept of intelligence to include the importance of understanding the self. Intrapersonal Intelligence is self-awareness, and it's a critical skill for managing emotions and behavior.

Into Awareness combines four key elements of practice to build the ability to see the value in our emotions and learn through them.

“I attended Genevieve Sherman’s Into Awareness Workshop, and found it to be all I had hoped for. Well-organized, thoughtful, fun, restful and full of sound ideas for establishing a mindful personal practice in order to then introduce the practice to children. The material is pertinent to children in any setting, making the workshop helpful to parents and anyone else working with children.
Genevieve was well-prepared, clear and confident in her presentation. Her passion and joy surrounding her dedication to enlightening others to mindful living is evident. The two days were nicely planned to allow discussion, movement, reflection and breaks. Participants left with a professionally-prepared handbook to aid them in establishing their own practice, and full of ideas/games/activities to introduce into the classroom.”

“I have often felt that most teacher trainings and workshops are either dry and boring or unnecessary. Rarely do presenters account for prior knowledge and experience and they often do not practice what they teach (explaining multiple learning styles with a lecture).

This was different. The presenters live and practice what they teach. Our histories and experiences were considered. Not only were they considered, they were valued, and our input was seen as a part of the collaborative experience, which is how it always should be.”
