OUR APPROACH
Four Key Practices
Breathing • Purposeful Movement • Focused Attention • Emotion Recognition
BREATHING
Practicing using the breath as a tool to self soothe, using the awareness learned to focus solely on the breath.
Using the breath during movement to become more aware of how we breathe under physical exertion.
Using the breath as a break between stimulus and response.
PURPOSEFUL MOVEMENT
Learning to have body awareness.
Learning healthy habits of exercise and the benefits it has on learning.
Learning movement breaks, and brain connecting exercises.
FOCUSED ATTENTION
Learning how to focus, by practicing sitting and becoming aware of what we can sense.
Learning to become aware of scattered attention and thoughts.
EMOTION RECOGNITION
Emotion Recognition is taught through reflection exercises that help children recognize how each emotion feels when it arises.
Teaching children and youth how to recognize an emotion and practice a pause before reacting to that feeling.
Reflection is key to understanding our emotions and is taught through journaling and focused attention practice.
